branding for the new english wine association

Two well established associations, an industry full of potential, a clear need for branding direction…

Wines of Great Britain follows the formal merger on 1st September 2017 of the two industry bodies: United Kingdom Vineyards Association (UKVA) and English Wine Producers (EWP).

We were tasked with creating a brand that would bring the two associations together and become a recognised body to assist within its industry. In addition to the main brand, regional versions had to be produced as well.

We felt that the overall style for this shouldn’t look like a creative drinks brand, as it wasn’t actually producing the wine… the device needed the air of government authority about it, but at the same time reflect the elegance and quality of English and Welsh wines. It was also very important to us that the branding should not encroach on any individual wine brand or bottle design but be entirely complementary to it.
